Congratulations Black History Essay Contest Winners!!
The Madison Jefferson County Public Library is proud to announce the winners of our Fifth Annual Black History Essay Contest. Participants had to be a resident of Jefferson County or have a library card. Our theme this year was “Why celebrate black history?” There were a total of twenty-four participants.
In the 3rd through 5th grade category, first place goes to Patrick Bear. Second place goes to Sarelia Rios. Both are fourth grade students at Pope John Elementary.
In the 6th though 8th grade category, first place goes to Courtney Tingle of Hanover, IN. Second place goes to Brandon Kemp of Lexington, IN. Both are in the seventh grade.
In the 9th through 12th grade category, first place goes to Vaishali Mittal. Second place goes to Erin Connor. Both are from Madison and in the eleventh grade.
First place winners will receive $50 and second place winners will receive $25.
Thanks to The Friends of the Library for their generous donation of the prize money and thanks to all who participated.
