Staff pick: Summerland
Ethan Feld has got to be the worst little league baseball player in the history of Clam Island, Washington. Yet, when a 100-year-old baseball scout comes to his island to find a hero, Ethan Feld is the chosen one!
Chosen for what? To play on a traveling all-star team? Er… no… Ethan is chosen to save the universe as we know it!
It turns out that Ethan lives in special place where different worlds meet. In the parallel world live the ferishers, fairies in our way of speaking, who have played baseball for a millenia. They would like to continue to play ball, but the trickster Coyote is out to ruin their world and ours.
If you like baseball, or even if you do not, Michael Chabon’s novel “Summerland” is a great fantasy novel complete with ferishers, werefoxes, bigfoot and giants. This book is a home run!
Have you read this book? What did you think of it?
Happy reading,

I thought this book was good, but a little hard to understand. It was great!
