"Metamorphosis" Young Adult Summer Reading Club
Schools out!! No more pencils, no more books, no more teachers’ dirty looks.
Just kidding. I’m sure that teachers never gave you dirty looks. :) Forget about that no more books part though.
The coolest thing about summer is that you have time to read for fun… what you want. Not what your teachers say you have to read or what you need to read for your A.R. points. Just for fun.
And the other cool thing? If you sign up for our summer reading club you can get stuff for reading. Here’s how it works…
Come to the library and sign up for summer reading in the children’s room after May 21st.
That was easy.
You’ll get a booklet that has little bugs that you have to cross off for every twenty minutes that you read. You just have to get a responsible adult to sign and say that you read. In the booklet there are prizes that you can get for every 4 bugs that are crossed off.
BUT WAIT, there’s more. The generous business owners in Madison and elsewhere have given us a bunch of cool prizes! You can win all kinds of cool stuff including two tickets to Newport Aquarium. (I’ll post a complete list of prizes on here later.)
In the past years there were different booklets for different grades. This year there is only 1 booklet for everyone.
Last year you earned tickets for the end of summer drawing by completing the booklet. This year you can earn tickets for the drawing by participating in the summer reading club, completing the booklet, attending young adult programs and completing mini internet scavenger hunts.
I will keep track of your tickets for you and give them to you at the end of the summer. Then you can put your tickets in the drawings for the prizes that you want. So if you don’t want to go to Newport Aquarium, you don’t have to put your name in for that prize.
Everyone will win a prize, even if your name isn’t pulled for one of the drawings.
The drawings will be held the night of August 14th at the End of the Summer Party.
Oh geez I hope all that made sense. But if it didn’t, or even if it did and you still have questions, feel free to ask.
I’m really hoping that this will make summer reading smoother for all of us.

If you are talking about June 12th, you are totally forgiven. You see, I had a heinous case of strep throat and had to cancel. If you had remembered to come, you would have been terribly disappointed. Believe me, I was.
