Literacy Awareness Days
September is National Literacy Month and September 8 is International Literacy Day!
We will host an information booth at Walmart from noon to 8 p.m. on International Literacy Day, Monday, Sept. 8, and then again on Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Hispanic Cultural Awareness Festival from 4 to 9 pm. The booths will be manned with volunteers to offer literacy information. There will be a drawing for a free book at each booth location.
We will be offering a tutor workshop that will be open to the public on techniques for teaching those with learning difficulties. Dates to be announced.
The City of Madison will also proclaim September Literacy Month at their council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 5:30 p.m.
