According to the WTF, taekwondo is a systematic and scientific Korean traditional martial arts that teaches not just physical fighting skills, but also the discipline of enhancing our spirit and life through the training of body and mind.
The official Olympic sport uses feet and hands in fighting, but emphasizes control and the means of calming fights and keeping the peace. When interpreted from Korean, the phrase/word taekwondo can mean “the right way of using all parts of the body to stop fights and help to build a better and more peaceful world.”
