MJCPL’s local history-genealogy staff can provide brief, factual answers to questions via email.
Please complete and submit the form below providing details where possible. The question will be reviewed by our specialist and answered as soon as possible.
We can also perform limited searches for historical or genealogical information. The library charges $5 for the search and 10 cents per copy, plus postage. You must have basic information to contribute, as the library cannot do complete genealogical histories.

The Madison-Jefferson County Public Library collects historical and genealogical materials from Madison, Hanover and Jefferson County, Indiana, and surrounding counties.
Books and clipping files : Our collections include books and thousands of clipping files on county, regional and Indiana history and genealogy.
Newspapers: Jefferson County newspapers from 1813 to the present are available at the library on microfilm.
Records: MJCPL genealogy records available on microfilm.
