Hanover Branch will become a reality!
Peer into the future. It’s Groundhog’s Day 2010. We’re not seeing our shadow, but we are seeing a brand new Hanover branch library!
This vision will become reality because the Madison-Jefferson County Public Library learned it will receive the $500,000 federal Community Development Block Grant we applied for this past summer. It happened in large part because of huge community participation and support for the project. We are so thankful for the help you provided to make this happen so in turn we can better serve you and our community!
The new Hanover branch, to be located in the former Madison Bank & Trust Bank building at LaGrange Road and Madison Avenue, will greatly expand services to the western half of Jefferson County.
The project will start with remodeling the existing bank building and constructing an addition to the structure. The library has hired architect Steve Alexander of Prince/Alexander Architects Inc. in Indianapolis. The firm, which specializes in historic preservation, urban design and land planning, has also worked on several library projects in Indiana.
Our current goal is to have the new library open by February 2010.
We are still learning the details of the grant, but please visit our Hanover Branch plans website to read preliminary facts about the project. We will update this page soon with additional information as we receive it.
Thank you!
