Literacy Tutors Wanted
Statistics tell us that 20% of American adults are functionally illiterate. They cannot read a newspaper, a road sign, a grocery ad, a menu or their Bible.
These adults need help
Are you willing to give an hour of your time a week to make a difference for them and their families?
We need tutors for English as well as non-English speaking adults.
The Madison-Jefferson County Public Library periodically offers free tutor training to persons in the Madison area.
For more information please call (812) 265-2744.
Students Wanted
The Madison-Jefferson County Library offers FREE, confidential one-on-one tutoring at the libarary at a time convenient to both tutor and student.
If you know an adult who can’t read or someone who has difficulty reading, be sure to tell them about our free program.
Anyone interested in becoming a student should call the library (265-2744) or stop by our Circulation Desk.
All our tutors have completed Adult Literacy Training, and many are experienced in working with students for whom English is a second language.
