One Book, One Community 2010

The 2010 One Book, One Community selection this year is The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch.

Carnegie-Mellon University computer science professor Randy Pausch was preparing to give such a lecture when he learned he had terminal pancreatic cancer. “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams” was going to indeed be his last lecture.

At first he considered skipping the lecture so he could help his family deal with his impending death. But then he realized that he desperately wanted to leave something special behind for his young children.

What would your legacy be? What would you want your family, friends, and children to remember after you passed away? Pausch addresses these questions in his moving work.

Please join us for a community discussion at The Village Lights Bookstore at 110 W Main Street on Thursday, March 11 at 6:00 p.m.

Copies of the book are available at the Madison-Jefferson County Public Library. A presentation of Pausch’s actual lecture is provided below for your viewing enjoyment.

Sponsored by the Madison Human Relations Commission and the Madison-Jefferson County Public Library.
