Computer Use Agreement supplement for patrons age 14-17
The Neighborhood Children’s Internet Protection Act (NCIPA), a federal law passed in 2001, requires that libraries address some issues for students ages 14 – 17.
My signature below indicates my understanding of and compliance with the following, approved by the Library Board of Trustees on 8/8/2002:
- I will avoid inappropriate matter on the internet and the World Wide Web.
- I will not use chat rooms or other direct electronic communications such as Instant Messenger, ICQ or the like. I will use web-based electronic mail in a safe and responsible manner.
- I will not attempt to violate security systems or disrupt user services or equipment.
- I will not provide personal information (such as name, address, telephone, school name, or city name) about myself or others online.
- I understand that my internet activities may go through filtering programs selected by the Library until I am 18 years old.
