Magazines and Newspapers
Issues of magazines from January to December of the current year are shelved in a section at the front of the building just off the main reading room. Issues of magazines of previous years are shelved, by title, on the mezzanine. Back issues may also be stored on microfiche. The most recent issues of newspapers are racked near the current magazine section. Back issues are kept for about six months and are shelved on the mezzanine. The Madison Courier is kept for 4 to 6 months in print form, while all prior issues are on microfilm.
How to use Your Account
When you select “Your account” or “renew materials,” you will be asked to two pieces of information.
First is your “user ID”... here you want to type in your 14-digit library card number which is located on the white side of your card. Type this in with no spaces or hyphens.
Ignore the “alternate ID” line.
Second, type in your four-digit PIN code which was handwritten on the book pocket you received with your card.
These numbers are also requested when you place books on hold.
If you are missing your PIN code: We can give you a duplicate of your code the next time you come to the library.
We can also email this code. However, this is possible only if we have your current email address already on file in our system. If we do not have your current email, you can update this the next time you visit.
You can also check our renewal chart to see what materials may be renewed.
If you have questions or wish to renew library items by telephone, feel free to give us call at (812) 265-2744.
