The Seed Library

Housed on the main floor of the Madison Public Library, the Jefferson County Seed Library is a collection of open-pollinated and heirloom seeds that growers can borrow to plant at home. Seeds are available from the second week in March through October. Each person may check out up to three packets per visit, to a total of nine packets per season.

At the end of the growing season, borrowers are encouraged to save seeds to return to the library and/or keep for their garden next year. The Seed Library will only accept open-pollinated seeds that have been grown without the use of chemicals.
